Data can be transmitted in binary, decimal or hexadecimal units, with a choice of standard or engineering units (which can be customised) as required. The latest release provides the ability to view the data in graphical format, using dials, guages, knobs and other visual "gadgets" to model an onscreen dashboard.

Mystic can record data into files for later analysis in a choice of formats, and can read back from file to allow interpretation of the results. Data can be filtered, and recording can be started and stopped by trigger events. The datastream can be shown in "dynamic" (scrolling) mode, or as a "static" display, where user-selected data labels are updated on a display panel. Messages can also be defined for high or low speed.
