Notice of Price Increase & Longer Lead Times
Dear Excalibur Customer,
So far 2021 has been a difficult year for many industries, including ours. We were hopeful that we would see a turnaround by now, but the supply chain challenges have recently become even greater. The difficulty obtaining components is increasing on a daily basis.
This is not an issue of finding components to purchase off-the-shelf. This is an issue of component deliveries not occurring as scheduled. Components purchases that were placed and confirmed many months ago are simply not arriving. The component manufacturers and distributors are calling these “de-commits”. Unfortunately these de-commits are occurring without any advance warning. This is making it impossible to maintain our production schedule and deliver products as scheduled.
Of course these delivery de-commits are due to serious shortages on specific components. This typically makes replacements difficult or impossible to find on the open market.
Excalibur has taken many steps to address the situation. These include bulk purchases of parts expected to be in short supply, parts purchases at significant additional cost, redesign of boards to use available parts, seeking out second and third sources, etc. Excalibur has purchased components to cover planned builds as far out as 24 months from now.
Unfortunately we have not been successful in mitigating the impact of all the ongoing component shortages. In order to address the situation, until these shortages start to ease, be advised that beginning today:
- New standard delivery commitments will move to 120 days.
- Pricing adjustments will occur on many products
Our primary focus is to support our customers in the best way possible. Your help with this situation is requested. Please place your product orders as far in advance as possible. The longer that we have to obtain parts the more products we will be able to deliver on time.
For additional questions please contact your Excalibur representative.
Sincerely,
Excalibur Systems
